Flock Veterinarian at Kronfågel – A unique opportunity to develop within the future of chicken production

Do you want to work close to the operations, make a real impact on animal welfare, and at the same time be part of a large European corporation with excellent development opportunities?

We are now looking for a Flock Veterinarian for Kronfågel – a role where you combine veterinary medical expertise with advisory services, development, and improvement work in one of Sweden's most important food chains.

Why Kronfågel?

Here, you get a unique opportunity to deepen your knowledge within chicken production and develop in an area that few veterinarians get the chance to work so broadly and strategically with. You become a key part of the entire value chain – from hatchery and breeding to production and quality.

As part of Scandi Standard, Europe's leading chicken producer, you gain access to a large network of specialists, colleagues, and development projects both nationally and internationally. There are great opportunities here to grow in your professional role and influence the future of animal welfare and sustainable food production.

We offer a role with great freedom under responsibility, where you plan and drive your work yourself while having support from engaged colleagues and experts within the operations.

About the role

As a Flock Veterinarian, you play a central role in ensuring good animal health, high animal welfare, and sustainable production. You work closely with our contracted breeders and collaborate with colleagues in production, hatchery, slaughter, quality, and sustainability.

The work is varied, developmental, and long-term. The focus is on preventive work where you get the opportunity to make a real difference by developing working methods, analyzing results, and turning knowledge into practical improvements.

The location is Valla, with the possibility of working from home as travel within Sweden occurs regularly. We have around 40 farms stretching across Södermanland, Östergötland, Västmanland, and Västergötland.

Your main responsibilities

  • Provide veterinary advice and support to Kronfågel's contracted chicken breeders.
  • Work preventively with animal health, biosecurity, and disease protection.
  • Monitor flock health, animal welfare, and production results, and initiate improvement measures.
  • Contribute to increased animal welfare and productivity through data-driven and practical solutions.
  • Collaborate closely with breeders and cross-functional teams to develop the entire production chain.
  • Participate in national and Nordic development projects within Live Operations.
  • Ensure compliance with legal requirements, guidelines, and industry standards.
  • Responsible for sampling, salmonella work, disease tracing, and decontamination efforts.
  • Further develop the company's animal welfare programs and strategies for disease control.
  • Educate, support, and share knowledge with colleagues and breeders.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for you who are a licensed veterinarian and want to develop in a future-oriented area where animal welfare, sustainability, and food safety are at the center.

You do not need prior experience with poultry – the most important thing is that you are curious, engaged, and eager to learn. We see this as a fantastic opportunity for you who want to build specialist knowledge in an area of great significance for Swedish food production, which is growing every day.

We believe that you:

  • Are a licensed veterinarian in Sweden or within the EU.
  • Have experience with or a strong interest in animal health and preventive veterinary medicine.
  • Have good knowledge of animal protection and food legislation.
  • Are analytical and enjoy turning data into concrete improvements.
  • Are communicative, pedagogical, and thrive in advisory roles.
  • Build trust and good relationships.
  • Are independent, proactive, and thrive with freedom under responsibility.

Experience with animal welfare work, audits, or certification systems is meritorious, as is further education in animal welfare or behavior.

Other requirements

  • Fluent Swedish in speech and writing.
  • Good knowledge of English.
  • Valid driver's license (Category B).

Welcome to Kronfågel

Here, you get the opportunity to combine veterinary medicine with development work, advisory services, and sustainable food production. You become part of an organization where your expertise makes a difference every day – for the animals, our breeders, and the future of Swedish food.

Does this sound interesting? Then we look forward to hearing from you.
