Do you want to work with forestry in practice – and at the same time contribute to a sustainable society?

The Swedish Forest Agency is the authority for matters concerning forests. Our vision is "Forests for the benefit of all". We work to ensure that Sweden's forests are managed and cared for in a way that provides good returns while preserving biodiversity, cultural heritage values, and opportunities for recreation and outdoor life for future generations.

An important part of our operations is our commissioned services, where we offer qualified services to forest owners, forestry companies, contractors, authorities, and other actors. We conduct, among other things, inventories, training, advisory services, valuations, and various types of forestry assignments.

We are now looking for an engaged employee for the Southern Jämtland district, based in Sveg.

With us, you will have a varied job with great freedom under responsibility, knowledgeable colleagues, and the opportunity to make a difference for the forest and society.

Job Responsibilities

As a forestry consultant with us, you will have a varied daily routine where field work is combined with planning, administration, and contacts with customers, forest owners, forestry companies, authorities, and other organizations.

You will work within the Southern Jämtland district and, if necessary, in other parts of the North Region. The work is carried out both in the forest and on land, and at the office. You will have an important role in planning and executing assignments and other tasks, following up on results, and contributing to developing the operations together with colleagues.

The tasks may include, among other things:

  • inventory of forests and nature values
  • volume estimation and forestry assessments
  • training and advice within forestry and nature conservation

Depending on your competence and the needs of the operations, other tasks may also become relevant. Since the assignments are geographically dispersed, travel and sometimes overnight stays away from home are required.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

  • a university or college education in forestry, forest biology, or other education/experience that the employer considers equivalent
  • a valid driver's license (Category B)
  • good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing

We would appreciate it if you had a genuine interest in both forestry issues, cultural and nature conservation, and enjoy switching between practical field work and administrative tasks.

Digital Competence

Digital tools are a natural part of our operations. Therefore, we are looking for someone who finds it easy to learn and work in different systems, both administrative programs at the office and digital field support in the operations.

Personal Attributes

To succeed in the role, we believe you:

  • are independent and can plan and drive your work forward
  • are structured and responsible
  • are communicative and pedagogical
  • can meet people in a trustworthy, respectful, and professional manner

As a government employee, you are expected to act with high integrity and share the values that characterize government operations.

Field Work

The work involves regular work in forests and land during all seasons of the year. You therefore need to have good physical ability to move in terrain with a backpack and equipment. The work may involve travel by both skis and snowmobile.

A snowmobile license and experience of snowmobile driving are meritorious.

What We Offer

At the Swedish Forest Agency, you have the opportunity to work with socially important issues in an organization where knowledge, collaboration, and development are in focus.

We strive to be a workplace where employees thrive, develop, and want to stay. As a new employee, you will receive a well-thought-out introduction and opportunities for training that strengthen you in your professional role and as a government employee.

Our core values are:

Community • Respect • Responsibility • Curiosity

Together with the government values, they guide our daily work.

We also offer several appreciated employment benefits and good opportunities to combine a meaningful job with a sustainable working life.
