Job Description

As a Building Inspector/Building Permit Handler with us, you will have a central role in the municipality's societal development. The position will have a clear focus on the building inspector duties, where you follow and influence the different stages of the construction process from design to completion. Depending on the operational needs over time, tasks within supervision and handling of building permits may also occur, providing a broad and developmental role.

Your main responsibilities include handling cases prior to start permits and final permits. You lead and participate in technical consultations, conduct site visits, and hold final meetings. Through your work, you actively contribute to ensuring that construction projects are carried out with high quality and in accordance with current legislation.

You work systematically and handle several cases in parallel, often in different phases. Through good planning and prioritization, you drive your cases forward in an efficient and legally secure manner. The role involves many contact points where you are expected to act professionally, attentively, and with respect.

The work is characterized by a high degree of independence with great freedom under own responsibility, while you are part of an engaged and knowledgeable work group. Collaboration, experience sharing, and continuous check-ins are a natural part of our daily work life.

As a building inspector, you are also an important guide through the regulations. You support and guide citizens, developers, and companies and contribute to creating understanding of the construction process from idea to finished building.

You keep yourself updated through environmental scanning, experience sharing, and continuous competence development. You also actively contribute to quality and development processes to strengthen and develop the operations.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • You hold a degree as a building engineer or other equivalent construction technical education.
  • Good communication skills in Swedish, both oral and written.
  • Valid driver's license (Category B).
  • You have experience with inspections of constructions in your work (e.g., as a building inspector, responsible controller, inspector, project manager, or similar role).

Merits

  • Experience with municipal operations and authority execution.
  • You have experience with geotechnical assessments and landslide/avalanche risks.
  • You have good knowledge of accessibility requirements according to the Planning and Building Act.
  • You have good knowledge of fire protection in buildings.

Employment Terms

Employment Type: Permanent position.
Duration: Permanent.
Start Date: As soon as possible, according to agreement.
