The Leisure and Youth Unit is one of four units within the Culture and Leisure Department. The unit's areas of operation cover civil society and associations, sports, facilities, the Leisure Bank, local booking, and youth issues.

Job Responsibilities

We are looking for two coordinators for the "Culture and Leisure Guidance" method, which is a new initiative. You will help build a service that creates real opportunities for a meaningful leisure time – for the children and young people who need it most.

The activity aims to strengthen protective factors, reduce inequality, and contribute to a more preventive approach in line with, among other things, the new Social Services Act.

As a coordinator for Culture and Leisure Guidance, you will work closely with children, young people, and their families who need support in finding contexts, a sense of belonging, and meaningful activities. Your primary task is not to create new activities, but to open doors to those that already exist.

You will become a crucial link between children and young people, their families, and various arenas in society, helping to lower barriers to a meaningful leisure time.

In the role of coordinator for Culture and Leisure Guidance, you will meet children and young people individually to build trusting relationships and map out their interests, needs, and barriers. The work also involves maintaining contact with associations and other civil society organizations, as well as municipal activities, and guiding them to these services. This may involve accompanying them during initial contacts to create a sense of security in new contexts. You will also collaborate with social services, schools, leisure activities, and other actors to jointly develop working methods that support individual development.

Qualifications

You have a university degree in the pedagogical, social, social science, or sports fields, and experience within the culture and/or leisure sector.

Meritorious qualifications include experience working with children and young people in vulnerable environments, experience from promoting and preventive work and early interventions for children and young people, and experience from qualified collaboration across different operational areas and between different actors in society.

A valid Category B driver's license is required for this position.

We are looking for you who have a proactive and problem-solving approach. Since the work is largely based on independence, it is important that you have the ability to handle parallel tasks, plan, and carry out your work in a structured manner.

To succeed in the role, you need to have a good understanding of systems and be able to navigate between different actors within the municipality, associations, and other parts of civil society for the benefit of the individual. Experience in establishing and maintaining well-functioning collaborations, cooperating between municipal institutions and associations, and guiding children and young people in various ways is a key prerequisite for fulfilling the role.

We would appreciate that you have experience working with children and families in vulnerable situations and an understanding of the preconditions for association life. You need to have good communication skills, both oral and written, administrative experience, and be service-oriented. You should enjoy working with many different people and actors. The work requires that you are accustomed to meeting young people in their daily lives and can translate relationships into concrete measures and activities.

Personal qualities that are valued include being:

  • A problem solver
  • Creative
  • A good listener
  • Independent
  • Adaptable
  • Structured

Please attach your CV and a cover letter with your application.

In the event of employment, extracts from the Police Register must be presented to the employer.

During the interview process, we will conduct an identity check and verify citizenship. Accepted documents include a passport, international ID card, driver's license plus a registration certificate from the Swedish Tax Agency, or another ID document that strengthens citizenship. For some positions, extracts from the police's suspicion and criminal registers are required. We welcome knowledge of Finnish and/or any of the Sami varieties, as Örnsköldsvik Municipality is part of both the Finnish and Sami administrative areas.

In our municipality, a number of positions are classified for security reasons, so security checks may be conducted. These positions may require Swedish citizenship.
