Work Leader for Cemetery Operations in Eskilstuna

About the workplace

The Eskilstuna Pastorate consists of four parishes, a large funeral service, two preschools, and a broad support function with many different competencies.

The Pastorate's funeral service consists of two main parts: service, which is responsible for administration, chapels, and crematorium, and the cemetery, which is responsible for the maintenance and development of the Pastorate's six cemeteries. The cemeteries we care for are St. Eskil's Cemetery approx. 5 km outside Eskilstuna, the Monastery Cemetery in central Eskilstuna, and the rural cemeteries in Gillberga, Lista, Öja, and Västermo.

The cemetery operations are divided into four work teams, each with a work leader. We are now looking for a new work leader for one of the two work teams at St. Eskil's Cemetery.

Job Responsibilities

As a work leader at the cemetery, you have personnel and work leadership responsibility for your work team, which consists of 4–20 employees depending on the season. Your main tasks are:

  • Plan, coordinate, follow up, and practically lead the cemetery maintenance for your work team.
  • Ensure that maintenance is kept at a good level.
  • Fulfill your personnel responsibility, including associated tasks such as personnel planning, recruitment, employee and salary interviews, personnel administration, etc.
  • Work systematically with occupational health and safety work according to the distribution of responsibilities from the superior manager.
  • Participate in the steering group as well as other working groups and projects concerning your own area of operations.

In the role of work leader, you are expected to be involved and proactive in the development and change work necessary for the operation. You need to collaborate with other functions both within the funeral service, in the rest of the pastorate, and with external customers, visitors, and suppliers.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who:

  • are trained as a gardener, or have other documented education and/or experience that the employer considers equivalent,
  • have documented experience in work in a leadership position
  • have good computer skills
  • hold a B driving license for manual transmission
  • have good physical fitness, as the work can be physically demanding
  • have good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written

As a person, you are a clear leader with good communication skills who finds it easy to converse, listen, and work together with others. You are self-motivated and driven and can inspire your employees. As a leader, you are present and lead by example. You work both organized and structured, and therefore carry out your tasks responsibly. We place great emphasis on personal suitability and see that you share the Church of Sweden's basic values!
