On Ward 34, you will meet children and young people aged 0–18 with both acute and chronic conditions. We are "the little hospital in the big one," which means that children with diagnoses in many different areas, such as medicine, surgery, and orthopedics, are treated on the ward. The medical care includes, for example, newly diagnosed diabetes, oncology, and neurology. As a nurse on Ward 34, you will be a significant part of pediatric care, which often means supporting the whole family in various situations. We work in nursing pairs (nurse/nursing assistant) and have 12 beds. We collaborate closely with doctors, dietitians, social workers, physiotherapists, and occupational therapists. The ward also includes play therapy with play therapists. We also have access to a hospital school with accompanying teachers.

The pediatric and adolescent ward is a broad department, making the work very stimulating and varied. You will be able to use your full range of creativity, as every individual is different with unique needs. All medications are calculated based on the patient's weight, so it is an advantage if you enjoy working in the medication room and like mathematics. We collaborate closely with the pharmacist, and there are good aids in the medication module. We use a fair amount of medical technical equipment, and you will of course receive training for this.
