Your future workplace
The Swedish Forest Agency has a mandate to implement rewetting of previously drained peatlands. To further develop this work, we are therefore looking for a Forestry Consultant for a permanent position at the East Svealand-Gotland district. You will be the face of the Swedish Forest Agency and have daily contact with landowners regarding rewetting matters.
Rewetting involves raising the groundwater level at a site to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. It is a climate measure that also has positive effects on biodiversity. The work on rewetting contributes to several of Sweden's environmental quality objectives, including Living Forests and Reduced Climate Impact.
Responsibilities
Your duties as a Rewetting Planner cover the entire chain, from initially identifying potential rewetting areas to finally implementing agreed-upon rewetting measures through procured contractors. This means you will handle incoming expressions of interest, engage in dialogue with interested landowners, process cases in our case management system, plan ditch-plugging measures, draft agreements with landowners, and commission excavator contractors. The role offers a high degree of flexibility, including both field and office work, where you have the opportunity to plan and manage your working day. It is a varied and challenging, yet very exciting job with great opportunities for personal development.
The work is independent and varied with many different points of contact. We collaborate extensively between districts, and you will work with the support of competent and engaged colleagues who are geographically dispersed within the region. You will belong to the East Svealand-Gotland district but will work within a larger geography, meaning you may occasionally need to travel and be away for longer periods.
As a Forestry Consultant, you will have a varied and stimulating job with good opportunities for competence development. Depending on your qualifications, focus, and the needs of the operation, other tasks may also become relevant. Examples include participating in supervision work, advisory activities, inventories, various projects, or our commission-based operations.
Qualifications
You have a relevant university education with a focus on forestry, biology, physical geography, hydrology, or similar subjects. You have experience with customer meetings, including regular contact and dialogue with external stakeholders. Relevant work experience is meritorious. We would like you to be accustomed to working in the field in forest environments. Experience in public administration, knowledge of hydrology, species, the Environmental Code, and nature value assessments are meritorious. We value good IT/GIS skills.
We place great emphasis on your personal qualities. You are a communicative person who can conduct dialogue with landowners, authorities, and various actors in the forestry sector in a trustworthy manner. We are looking for someone who has a passion for meeting new people, has the ability to build trust, and is driven by closing agreements. You collaborate well with others while working independently towards set goals in a structured manner. You have the ability to synthesize complex information and the drive to see tasks through from start to finish, taking responsibility for advancing your cases.
You need a value system and integrity that allow you to identify with the requirements of being a state employee.
A B-driver's license is required.
What we offer you
We offer a permanent position at 100%, starting with a 6-month probationary period. Employment can start immediately or as agreed.
We apply individual salary setting, remote work agreements, and trust-based working hours.
Location: Täby, Uppsala, or Västerås.
Apply by July 26 via the link.
During the summer, questions can be directed to us via the Swedish Forest Agency's switchboard, phone 010-172 10 00. We conduct selection and contact for interview scheduling shortly after the application deadline.
