Port of Skellefteå is growing and developing alongside increasing cargo volumes and a new harbor area. Together with your colleagues, you contribute to creating efficient and safe cargo flows where every effort matters for the operation to function smoothly. Here you play a key role in daily operations and have the opportunity to influence how we develop our working methods.

The work is performed in shifts with morning and afternoon passes. Depending on operational needs, on-call duty may also be required.

YOUR ROLE

As a Stevedore, you are responsible, together with your colleagues, for the operation, maintenance, and upkeep of the harbor area. The work is varied and includes cargo handling, machine operation, and practical tasks that contribute to the safe and efficient functioning of the port.

An important part of the assignment is preparing for ship arrivals and assisting with mooring, loading, and unloading. You will work with forklift operation, container handling, ship cleaning, as well as securing loads with chains and slings. Safe load handling is an integral part of the job and permeates all work tasks.

The role also includes operating machinery such as forklifts and wheel loaders, as well as operational and maintenance work within the harbor area, such as snow clearing, sanding, and sweeping of quays and roads. Depending on operational needs and your skills, crane operation and simpler service and maintenance tasks may also occur.

You will become part of a team of approximately 15 employees where collaboration, planning, and a strong safety mindset are crucial for the operation to function well.

YOUR COMPETENCE AND EXPERIENCE

We are looking for you who have experience operating wheel loaders, forklifts, or similar machinery at work. You are accustomed to handling cargo safely and efficiently and understand the importance of order, planning, and safety in daily work.

To be considered for the role, you need:

• Experience operating wheel loaders, forklifts, or similar machinery at work.
• Good physical fitness as the work is physically demanding and performed outdoors year-round.
• Category B driver's license.
• Good ability to communicate in Swedish or English.

If you also have experience from port, terminal, logistics, or industrial operations, we view this as meritorious. The same applies to forklift licenses, operator certificates for wheel loaders, experience with larger machinery or vehicles, and knowledge in simpler service, workshop, or maintenance work.
