Animal Caretaker for Lillskogen – Karlstad City Park

Mariebergsskogen AB – Karlstad City Park is owned by the City of Karlstad and is the largest visitor attraction in Värmland. Our work varies by season, and we have approximately 80 employees during the summer peak. We manage facilities, playgrounds, café sales, green areas, Naturum Värmland, the Lillskogen animal park, and several large events in the park.

Description

Lillskogen Animal Park, along with its associated stables and paddocks, offers unique opportunities for visitors to see and experience animals year-round. The work is characterized by friendly treatment, solid knowledge, and excellent animal husbandry. Lillskogen aims to fulfill the intentions of keeping animals in public environments by participating in conservation efforts for Swedish native breeds, contributing to people's well-being, and spreading knowledge about animals and animal husbandry.

The role of an animal caretaker involves participating in and taking responsibility for the Lillskogen operational area.

You will work with animal and facility maintenance, public activities, and mentoring students and participants.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

• a high school education from a natural resource program or other education deemed equivalent by the employer.
• professional experience – preferably in the care of farm animals.
• the ability to conduct public guided tours and speak in front of a group.
• the ability to mentor students and participants in work.

To succeed in this role, you need to be meticulous, communicative, flexible, and always prioritize the animals' well-being. You thrive in a public environment where meeting people is an important part of the job. Personal suitability will be given great weight.

The position is full-time on a schedule that includes weekend work.

A Category B driver's license is required for the position. Experience operating wheel loaders and grass trimmers is meritorious.
