RESPONSIBILITIES

Welcome to the Education Administration and Kungsmadskolan!

Here, you have the opportunity to make a difference for our children and students. The Education Administration is responsible for approximately 18,000 children and students and works every day to ensure they develop and achieve increased goal fulfillment. We want children to enter our operations as curious, creative one-year-olds and leave us as engaged, knowledgeable, and independent 19/20-year-olds. The administration employs over 2,700 people. Our operations include preschools, pedagogical care, preschool classes, comprehensive schools, adapted comprehensive schools, after-school centers, upper secondary schools, and adapted upper secondary schools. Additionally, youth clubs, cultural schools, and school libraries are included. Some operations also have different orientations such as Reggio Emilia, music, and IB (International Baccalaureate).

Kungsmadskolan is a municipal upper secondary school with 1,500 students in both vocational and university-preparatory programs.

We are looking for you who want to work as a librarian with us.

The library at Kungsmadskolan plays a central role in students' knowledge acquisition and development. It is centrally located in the school, and our two full-time librarians serve as an outward-facing and well-integrated pedagogical resource for students and staff. The primary task of the school library is to, based on teaching, contribute to strengthening students' linguistic abilities and digital competence – Kungsmadskolan's school library should be a library for everyone.

The library's operations are governed by Växjö Municipality's Library Plan 2025-2029 and Kungsmadskolan's local library plan.

As a school librarian, you work on developing students' media and information literacy, digital competence, and source criticism skills, as well as strengthening students' reading engagement and reading ability for higher goal fulfillment. You work on promoting reading both in collaboration with the school's teachers and independently. You plan and conduct teaching and guide students both in the library and in the classroom.

Together with your colleague, you work to ensure the library is an accessible, inviting, and inclusive learning environment, both socially, pedagogically, and physically, for our students. You administer and manage the library's physical and digital resources (including teaching materials) and plan the library's operations together. As part of the work, you also actively participate in the overarching school library network led by two coordinators within the Education Administration.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for you with a degree in Library and Information Science and preferably also experience from upper secondary school.

As a person, you have good ability to organize and create structure in operations. The role involves many contact points with both students and staff, making communication and collaboration skills particularly important for the position. You also take initiative and responsibility for the work moving forward, whether you are working alone or with others. You contribute new ideas and perspectives and often see more than one possible solution in different situations. We assume that you have a great interest in pedagogy, teaching, and creating good relationships with students and colleagues. It is also important that you feel comfortable standing in front of students and leading activities in the classroom.
