About the Operation

Avesta Hospital is a smaller county hospital with a 24-hour emergency department and three wards with a total of approximately 40 patient beds. We offer local healthcare for southern Dalarna and northern Västmanland and have a broad specialist operation in medicine, geriatrics, and rehabilitation. We are proud of our strong educational climate – our motto is: Sweden's best residency school.

Job Responsibilities

As a Specialist Training (ST) doctor in geriatrics, you will receive a varied and developing position with tasks such as:

• Management of stroke patients through the entire care chain – from acute phase to rehabilitation
• Geriatric care for patients with acute internal medical conditions
• Orthopedic rehabilitation
• Memory assessments and specialist follow-up for dementia diseases
• Stroke and neurological follow-up (e.g., Parkinson's disease, MS)
• Collaboration with primary care and service in the region's mobile teams
• Mentoring of trainee doctors, students, and contributing to our educational activities

We work in multidisciplinary teams with a person-centered holistic view – together we create the best care for our patients. Your ST training is planned individually with the possibility to combine with ST in internal medicine.

Qualifications

Requirements:

• Swedish medical license
• Swedish language skills corresponding to at least C1 level
• Personal qualities such as responsibility and good ability to collaborate
