Do you want to lead the work of owning, managing, and developing the municipality's properties – while simultaneously leading a strong and cohesive unit? Örebro Municipality is seeking a new Head of Real Estate who combines the ability to build trust and holistic thinking with structure and development.

About the position

As Head of Real Estate at the Environment and Urban Development Administration, you will be responsible for the Real Estate Unit with 12 employees. The unit's most important mission is to:

  • Own, manage, and develop the property portfolio
  • Acquire land and properties for the land reserve
  • Sell small housing plots and manage the municipality's leasehold rights
  • Financially manage agreements and rights

The property portfolio has evolved from previously consisting mainly of land reserves, i.e., land awaiting development or other use, to now encompassing a larger management portfolio ranging from agricultural properties to tourist attractions, sports facilities, redevelopment properties, and security housing.

You are responsible for personnel, finance, and the work environment. Together with your closest unit manager colleagues, you are part of the management group for the Land and Development Department. In the management group, you are expected to contribute to the whole – with the ability to shift perspective from the individual to the collective.

The work involves many areas of collaboration, both internally as a property owner/landlord and externally towards the market and municipal residents as customers. You represent the municipality and ensure that the work is carried out within given frameworks with the right service and quality.

About the workplace

The Real Estate Unit is one of four units within the Land and Development Department of the Environment and Urban Development Administration. The other units in the department are responsible for development, project management, and nature conservation. In total, there are approximately 200 people in the administration, working in modern offices in central Örebro, directly adjacent to the central station.
