Job Responsibilities

The Functional Support Administration is currently undergoing an exciting transformation towards high-quality, accessible care with a focus on a person-centered approach. We are now seeking an engaged Unit Manager for our Health and Medical Care Unit to lead this important work forward.

Within the Health and Medical Care Unit, nurses, assistant nurses, occupational therapists, and physiotherapists work in interdisciplinary teams. Their mission is to provide person-centered, health-promoting, and patient-safe care for individuals living in housing with special services under the LSS, SoL, or personal assistance. The work is conducted in close collaboration with other units within the administration to ensure high-quality and equitable healthcare for people with disabilities in Malmö City.

As a Unit Manager, you will serve as a second-line manager responsible for leading and distributing work within the unit and supporting the unit's five section managers (first-line managers) in their daily tasks. You will hold responsibility for the unit's budget, personnel, and work environment, and you will strategically plan work in collaboration with other stakeholders within the unit's scope of assignment.

This role offers an independent and varied position where you will work closely with the department head and the management group. You will have significant opportunities to influence the administration's development by contributing improvement proposals and innovative solutions within the unit's area of responsibility.

Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate with a university or college degree of at least 180 credits, such as a nurse, occupational therapist, physiotherapist, social worker, or other education deemed relevant by the employer. You must also have some form of management or leadership training. Experience in leading other managers within municipal healthcare is considered an asset.

We seek someone with broad leadership experience, including responsibility for personnel, work environment, and finance. You should also have experience in leading and developing other managers.

To succeed in this role, you must have prior experience leading and steering overall operational development and change management. You should be accustomed to creating engagement and conditions for collaboration, and possess a good understanding of the legislation governing our operations – the Health and Medical Services Act (HSL), the Act on Support and Service for Certain Persons with Functional Impairments (LSS), and the Social Services Act (SoL). Previous experience working in a politically governed organization is also considered an asset.

You need to be responsive to needs and lead through collaboration and participation. Furthermore, you must understand the importance of trust-based leadership and be able to create security through clarity and continuous follow-up. You work well with others, act responsively and attentively to others' views, competence, and performance. You identify and develop relationships within the group, listen, communicate, and resolve conflicts constructively.

You are structured and quality-conscious in your work and have the ability to view your assignment in a perspective that encompasses the entire organization. As a person, you are driven, flexible, and solution-oriented, and you communicate fluently in Swedish, both verbally and in writing.
