Do you want to work for healthy waters, strong fish stocks, and sustainable management of our aquatic environments? With us, you will have the opportunity to combine your knowledge of sport fishing and environmental improvement measures, in close collaboration with knowledgeable colleagues and stakeholders throughout the county. As a County Fisheries Consultant and Liming Officer, you will receive a varied and developmental role in the work for living water environments and long-term sustainable fishing in Västmanland.

Responsibilities

You will work closely with the existing County Fisheries Consultant and, as part of your position, take primary responsibility for issues related to stocking, fishery conservation areas, and fishing inspections on individual waters.

The second part of the position mainly concerns liming administration. This involves conducting liming operations together with municipalities, keeping the liming plan up to date, and performing field follow-ups on liming effects. You will also conduct acidification assessments to determine status.

Depending on your experience and competence, it may also be relevant to:

• coordinate our environmental monitoring efforts.
• participate in the County Administrative Board's opinions in permit assessments.
• participate in our work for stronger crayfish stocks.

About the Workplace

As a County Fisheries Consultant and Liming Officer, you will work at the Water Conservation and Fisheries Unit. Here, you will find many knowledgeable colleagues who benefit greatly from each other. We work for natural and healthy waters with sustainable use within the areas of environmental monitoring, invasive species, water management, fisheries, and measures for better water environments.

The County Administrative Board's premises are centrally located, near the train station, in Västerås.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

• good knowledge of fishing legislation and a strong interest in fisheries issues
• academic education as a limnologist/biologist with a focus on water, fisheries, gamekeeper, or other education suitable for the work.
• Class B driver's license

We consider it a merit if you also have:

• good knowledge of fish and fish ecology and behavior, as well as recreational and sport fishing issues
• experience working with fisheries issues at a County Administrative Board
• training in electric fishing, fish marking, and experimental animal handling
• experience in the restoration of rivers and lakes
