As the captain of M/S Athene, you are responsible for safely navigating and maneuvering the vessel as well as for the passengers and crew. We operate on the Göta Canal from Söderköping and further out into the Östgöta archipelago every day of the week. In addition to regular tours, we also run special tours such as seafood cruises, corporate events, and weddings.

You will work on one of Sweden's most classic passenger routes with varied traffic and close contact with guests. The work consists of day trips lasting approximately 3–5 hours per trip. On Saturdays, two trips are run consecutively. The total working time is usually around 5–7 hours per day. The longer trip has a planned stop in Stegeborg for lunch and passenger handling.

The traffic operates on fixed routes, making the position easy to adapt to even for new captains.

M/S Athene is 81 gross tons, about 25 meters long, and accommodates up to 90 passengers. As the captain of a smaller archipelago boat, you will have broad responsibilities and be an important part of the guest experience on board.

You need to meet the requirements for a medical certificate for seafarers.

Employment is from the beginning of June to the end of August.

For those in need, coastal accommodation can be arranged outside of Valdemarsvik. Simple overnight accommodation on board may be available if needed.

The position is suitable for both recent graduates and more experienced captains. We are also interested in contacting local captains who can step in as needed during the season.
