We are in an exciting development phase to become a modern geriatric emergency care department (GAVA) this spring – more emergency-oriented care to investigate and treat acute conditions in our frail elderly patients. We will have admissions from the emergency department around the clock, and you will meet and care for patients with both acute and chronic illnesses.

Job Description

As a Deputy Ward Manager with us, you will have an independent and varied assignment where you have good opportunities to plan and structure your workday. In addition to clinical staff, your closest team consists of the ward manager, staffing coordinator, and medical management responsible physician. The ward manager has overall responsibility for the department's operations, staff, and finances. As a Deputy Ward Manager, you are a key person and a close support in this assignment. Together, you will plan, lead, develop, and follow up on the operations. You are an important part of creating a good work climate through present, accessible, and inclusive leadership. You are visible in daily work, have ongoing dialogue with employees, and strive for clear and effective teamwork where everyone works towards common goals.

Your tasks include, among other things, leading staff, planning for professional development, patient safety work, implementing routines, and organizing the introduction and follow-up of new colleagues. An important part of the assignment is to drive quality and improvement work and to develop the unit positively. To be well anchored in the operations and nursing issues, clinical work as a nurse is a natural part of the role.

Qualifications

Licensed nurse with several years of experience in emergency care/work on a ward. Previous experience in elderly care and management/leadership is meritorious. A master's degree in nursing and leadership training is also considered an advantage.

Other Information About the Position

Permanent, full-time 100%

50% Deputy Ward Manager and 50% clinical work

You will mostly work during the day, but the clinical work also includes evenings and weekend shifts (every fifth weekend)
