About the company
The Swedish School in London is a non-selective, independent school in South West London. We offer education predominantly taught in Swedish from Preschool to Sixth Form under the Swedish curriculum. We have around 200 motivated and engaged students, and we take pride in our friendly, supportive atmosphere and flat management structure. The school has nearly 50 employees, distributed across two different sites in Barnes and Kew.
We offer you a unique opportunity to teach abroad while following the Swedish curriculum in a warm and inclusive school community where teachers thrive.
Your responsibilities
We are looking for a passionate and skilled Crafts Teacher to teach woodwork and textiles to pupils in Years 3–9 of compulsory school. The Crafts component of the role currently comprises 60%, with the intention to extend the position to full-time. Experience or qualifications in additional subjects are therefore highly valued. In this role, you will be responsible for planning, delivering, and developing engaging and creative lessons that inspire students and foster both practical skills and confidence. This full-time position starts on 15 August 2026.
Terms and conditions:
The Swedish School in London sponsors successful candidates for a three-year work visa, covering visa costs for the teacher. Candidates must cover visa costs for any accompanying family members. The school supports candidates outside the UK with a travel and moving allowance and essential guidance on the moving process to the UK. Any employment starts with a one-school-year probation; if successful, it is followed by two more years of employment for a total of three years of fixed-term employment. An individual salary structure is applied based on experience and qualifications.
Your profile
You are an enthusiastic, student-focused educator, qualified to teach craft and ideally one or more additional subjects. You are a confident and adaptable classroom practitioner with high expectations, able to engage, motivate, and challenge pupils effectively. You use both formative and summative assessment to support learning and are a collaborative team player who takes initiative and shares expertise with colleagues. You have strong digital competence; experience with SchoolSoft and Google Classroom is an advantage. You are fluent in Swedish and have at least B2-level proficiency in English. Having the right to work in the UK is desirable, but not essential.
Your application
Due to visa requirements, your application must be in English. It should include a cover letter explaining why you are the right candidate and outlining your subject interests, a comprehensive CV with no unexplained gaps, proof of teaching qualifications specifying the subjects covered. References will be requested from candidates who progress to the later stages of the recruitment process.
The Swedish School in London collaborates with Clockwork Skolbemanning & Rekrytering, who manage the advertising and receive applications on behalf of the school. Please send your application to Jonny Gebara at [email protected]. The application deadline is 25 April 2026, but we will review applications on a rolling basis and may fill the position earlier if the right candidate is found.
