The position is located at the Environmental Protection Unit, one of three units within the Environmental and Building Department at the Community Planning Administration. We offer you a workplace with knowledgeable, unpretentious, and dedicated colleagues with broad expertise in our field. You will be part of a group with ten inspectors who share the same focus.

As a supervisory authority under the Environmental Code, we are a key player for a sustainable Eskilstuna. We work with the supervision of environmentally hazardous activities, contaminated areas, and area protection. Eskilstuna was named Sweden's Best Environmental Municipality 2024 by Aktuell Hållbarhet, and we have a high level of ambition within the Environmental Protection Unit's operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Your main responsibility within environmentally hazardous activities and environmental protection is the supervision of environmentally hazardous activities. We supervise all types of businesses, so there is a wide range of industries and sizes. The work involves planning and conducting both regular and event-driven inspections. The role also includes handling complaints, operational disturbances, and potential environmental accidents, primarily related to your own supervisory objects.

Cases are processed, documented, and decided independently within the area of responsibility. If necessary, you or the unit manager will present cases to the board. The work is carried out in collaboration with your colleagues.

QUALIFICATIONS

You have an academic education with a relevant focus. We prefer that you have experience working with supervisory cases related to environmentally hazardous activities, as the position requires a broad knowledge base of applicable legislation. It is advantageous if you have previously worked with any of the commonly used supervisory systems. You have a valid driver's license and are comfortable driving a car for work purposes. For supervisory cases located within three kilometers, we often use e-bikes. Therefore, you need to be open to cycling as part of your work.

You can structure, plan, and drive your own work and enjoy switching between short and long cases. Your work is characterized by dialogue and responsiveness. You succeed in addressing questions and conveying information, instructions, and decisions clearly. You recognize the importance of collaboration and will therefore be an asset to our collegial learning.
