Hospitals in the West

The hospitals in the west are an administration within the Västra Götaland Region and consist of four hospitals – Alingsås Hospital, Angered Local Hospital, Högsbo Local Hospital, and Kungälv Hospital. About 3000 employees work with us every day to provide good and safe specialist healthcare of the highest quality.

About ICU

The Intensive Care Unit is part of the Anesthesia, Surgery, and Intensive Care operation. The department is of a general nature, where we provide intensive care from several areas such as medicine, surgery, and psychiatry. We perform postoperative care from several areas including surgery, orthopedics, urology, medicine, and dentistry. In our day surgery unit, we receive outpatient patients before and after planned surgery/examination. We have about 70 intensive care nurses and nursing assistants working with us.

Description

We offer a stimulating job with a wide variety of patients, from critically ill to less ill. As a nursing assistant in the ICU, you are an important part of the team around the patient, together with the responsible intensive care nurse and doctor. Within the department, several active development projects are ongoing in interdisciplinary groups consisting of nursing assistants, nurses, and doctors, to improve quality and patient safety within our unit. Kungälv Hospital is a trauma-receiving hospital, which means we invest in internal training and skill enhancement in the field.

Job Responsibilities

Standard job responsibilities as a nursing assistant in an intensive care unit. Your introduction is individualized and tailored for you in consultation with your supervisor and department head.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for you who are a trained nursing assistant and who enjoys working in a team but also independently. You like challenges, have the ability to be flexible, and can handle stressful situations in a calm and methodical way. We place great importance on good collaboration skills and a good attitude towards both patients and colleagues. It is advantageous if you have work experience from anesthesia, surgery, and/or intensive care or from emergency services.

Protected Job Title for Nursing Assistants

From July 1, 2023, the title of nursing assistant is a protected job title. This means that you will need a certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare to use the title nursing assistant in healthcare and social services.
