JOB DESCRIPTION

Welcome to Hagavik School - Växjö Municipality's newest secondary school. We opened our doors in August 2024 and this school year we have 12 classes, but for the next school year, we will expand with an additional 3 classes. This means we will have about 400 students when fully built. We are now looking for a school librarian!

We work to provide students with good learning environments with the student's best interests in focus. We help each other find solutions that benefit the students and help them develop both socially and academically.

We value good communication between school and home. From the school, we want to offer all guardians a good insight into and a good collaboration regarding the students' school situation. It is important to us that parents feel that their children's education is significant for the future, which is a success factor for them to succeed in school.

As a school librarian, you have a central pedagogical role in the school's activities. You work closely with school management, teachers, and student health staff to develop the school library as an active part of the teaching and to ensure that the library's activities contribute to the development of the school's prioritized development areas.

The assignment includes:

  • Promoting reading interest and language development in all grades
  • Planning and conducting reading-promoting activities such as book presentations
  • Guiding students and teachers in information retrieval, source criticism, and source reliability, and collaborating with staff to develop other aspects of students' media and information literacy.
  • Responsible for media purchases, weeding, and development of the library's collection
  • Creating an inspiring and inclusive library environment
  • Creating activities at the school that promote reading development, such as reading projects, book circles, buddy reading, and theme days.

As a school librarian with us, you will also be part of an established network where librarians from our various schools meet to learn from each other and develop equity for the students. The network provides support, inspiration, and opportunities to jointly drive the school library operations forward.

The position's employment rate is 70%.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone with a degree in library and information science or similar. We would like you to have experience in similar tasks. The position suits you who are attentive, flexible, have good collaboration skills, and a positive view of students. We place great importance on your personal qualities and value the ability to meet students based on their varying needs.

We believe you find it easy to communicate in both speech and writing and are comfortable making new contacts and building relationships. You have good collaboration skills, a positive willingness to develop the operations, you can see opportunities and work independently, as well as take your own initiative.
