Meal Service

Meal Service is an operation within Uppsala Municipality that runs restaurants in preschools, schools, high schools, senior restaurants, and delivers meals to residents within care and nursing operations. Every day we serve 45,000 meals and continuously develop our operations to stay at the forefront. Meal Service has been nominated and competed in several competitions in public gastronomy with excellent placements as a result.

Job Description

As a meal assistant, you are responsible for planning, preparing, and cooking our salad buffet according to Meal Service's guidelines. You will work with purchasing food through our purchasing portal and participate in the preparation and serving of breakfast, lunch, and snacks. Dishwashing and cleaning are a natural part of the job.

We work sustainably and follow up on food waste daily, which is reported digitally. You are involved, either alone or with colleagues, in the operation's self-control program and conduct daily quality controls. You present the food in an appealing and professional manner and have good knowledge of ingredients to ensure allergen-safe and secure meals for our guests.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with an education in kitchen and restaurant from high school or equivalent education. You need documented experience of working in a kitchen as well as good knowledge of food hygiene. The position requires good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written. A B driver's license is an advantage.

As a meal assistant, you take responsibility for your tasks and work in a structured manner, while being able to adapt when circumstances change. You see opportunities in new situations and contribute to the smooth running of work. You are calm, attentive, and accommodating in your interactions with colleagues and guests. You have the interest, willingness, and ability to help others and strive to deliver solutions. As a person, you remain calm even when the pace is high and have a strong service focus. With an understanding of the whole, you always act with the best interests of the operation in mind.
