Cook at Gruvberget Prison
The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will be safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, detention centers, and client transport.
The Gävle area includes the closed prison Gävle, the open prison Gruvberget, and the detention center Bomhus. Our operations run around the clock, and the largest professional group is prison officers, with over ten other positions supporting our mission. At the prisons Gävle and Gruvberget, inmates are engaged in education, other structured activities, treatment programs, self-management, or work primarily consisting of carpentry production. You can easily reach Gävle Prison and Bomhus detention center by public transport; access to a car is required for Gruvberget Prison. Staff parking is available.
Gruvberget is an open prison in the lowest security class. The prison has space for 60 clients and employs around 40 staff. The facility is located in a beautiful part of Hälsingland, surrounded by forests and lakes.
