We are looking for midwives and midwifery students who are passionate about providing safe and quality care to women, newborns, and new families.

We have strengthened our core staffing and have available temporary and permanent positions in varying degrees of employment in three shifts with work every third weekend. The delivery department at Østfold Hospital is the sixth largest in the country with over 3000 deliveries per year. We have a dynamic work environment focused on normal deliveries and specialized obstetric care.

You will work with all aspects of obstetric care, such as observation of hospitalized pregnant women, normal deliveries, specialized obstetric assistance, and postpartum care. Our goal is to take care of the whole family and provide safe and quality delivery and postpartum care. With us, you will meet a comprehensive women's clinic. In addition to delivery/postpartum care, we also have a gynecological department with 9 beds. We have extensive surgical operations including day surgery and our own operating room at the clinic. We operate both in Kalnes and Moss. We have approximately 26,500 outpatient consultations annually, consisting of delivery clinic, postpartum clinic, acute delivery/gynecological clinic, urodynamic clinic, and gynecological clinic.

Østfold Hospital, Kalnes, is located about a 50-minute drive from Oslo and about 30 minutes from Strömstad. There are good public transport options in immediate proximity. We have a desired schedule. For those who wish for more flexibility during the day, there is the possibility of a larger share of night shifts in the schedule/pure night scheduling. We are currently looking at solutions including 12.5-hour shifts that can provide opportunities for compressed work hours and longer periods of leave if desired and if living some distance from the hospital.

Job Responsibilities

As a midwife with us, you will rotate between the observation, delivery, and postpartum departments.

  • The observation department takes care of sick pregnant women and induction patients
  • The delivery department has 9 delivery rooms, 6 of which are adapted for water births. We have normal deliveries and specialized obstetric assistance
  • The postpartum department consists of two units, one with 20 beds and one with 9 beds. We have individually tailored postpartum care
  • Midwifery professional responsibility for hospitalized pregnant women, birthing women, and women in postpartum care
  • Care and guidance of new parents
  • Follow-up of newborns during the perinatal period
  • The data tools we use include Dips, Partus, and Metavision
  • Contribute to quality and patient safety work and professional development
  • You will work in a team with skilled midwives, nurses, pediatric nurses, and doctors
  • The list is not exhaustive. There may be changes/development of the position.

Qualifications

  • Experience from delivery and postpartum departments
  • Experience as a midwife at deliveries
  • Thrives in a dynamic and intensive work environment
  • Is professionally engaged and wants to contribute to the development of our department
  • Puts collaboration and patient care in focus
  • Norwegian authorization as a midwife
  • Fluent in Norwegian and English, good oral and written communication

Calculation of Salary Seniority/Salary Setting

Documentation of education, work experience, and statutory leaves such as childcare and military service must be attached to the application and included in the CV.
