Training Position for Specialist Nurse in Intensive Care

A training position means that you study to become a specialist nurse while retaining your base salary. You will be permanently employed in the department where you will work as a qualified specialist nurse.

When applying for a training position, you also need to apply for the specialist nursing education via www.antagning.se (https://www.antagning.se). The deadline for applications to the specialist nursing education in intensive care starting in the autumn term of 2026 is March 16.

An offer for a training position can only be made once you have been accepted into the program.

Your Future Workplace

The intensive care unit at the county hospital in Kalmar is a regional resource with seven intensive care beds and two recovery units with a total of 20 beds. Approximately 40 intensive care nurses and 40 nursing assistants work in the department. The department has a general focus and serves the entire county hospital. The clinic conducts active research and development work, both in nursing science and medicine, and is at the forefront in several areas, including ventilator care and continuous dialysis. The entire clinic has very modern facilities with newly updated equipment, and we have our fantastic balcony where we can take our patients with ventilators and other equipment outside.

The county hospital in Kalmar is one of three hospitals in Kalmar County. The hospital is an emergency hospital with specialized care, maternity care, and postnatal care. Over 2,300 people work here to provide good care and high patient safety to the county's residents. Our employees' continuous development work allows us to achieve good results in several national measurements. The hospital is located near Kalmar city center and Kalmarsund.
