Green Space Caretaker for the Parks Department in Sundbyberg City

The Parks Department consists of 27 people, of which about 20 work with the maintenance of Sundbyberg's parks, nature, and urban environments.

The position is a temporary contract from April 1, 2026, to March 31, 2027, with a possible extension.

Your role

You are the brain and hands behind green space maintenance, focusing on sustainability and long-term results. Together with the park, street, and facility teams, you work towards common goals — with daily dialogue with colleagues and supervisors within the operations area.

Your knowledge of outdoor environments is highly valued, and you are happy to share it with colleagues. Your impact makes a difference — in the greenery of the district, the quality of life of residents, and in natural areas.

Job responsibilities (examples of what you do throughout the year)

• Pruning trees and shrubs
• Hedge trimming
• Planting trees, shrubs, perennials, and seasonal plants
• Brush clearing
• Nature conservation maintenance with elements for biodiversity
• Identifying improvement potential in green spaces
• General maintenance: weeding, lawn mowing, cleaning
• Winter road maintenance

You work outdoors — rain or shine — and sometimes in the early mornings and on weekends.

Your skills and experience

We are looking for someone who has:

• Horticultural education or other education deemed equivalent and suitable for the position
• Several years of documented and current experience in practical work with green space maintenance
• Good plant knowledge — especially perennials, shrubs, and trees
• Good knowledge of tree care and pruning
• Current experience working with handheld machines such as trimmers, leaf blowers, and hedge trimmers
• Driver's license (B)
• Good communication skills in Swedish — spoken and written

Meritorious:

• Chainsaw and brush cutter certification
• Knowledge in nature conservation and biodiversity
• Knowledge of and interest in working environmentally conscious with green issues
• Experience in developing plant proposals
• IT skills, e.g., Office suite
• Experience in snow removal with machinery

A large part of our operations is classified as critical societal functions.

The position may be assigned within the framework of Sundbyberg City's role in total defense.
