Pilot Operators East Coast

The Swedish Maritime Administration is responsible for providing pilot services in Swedish waters. The pilots' assignments are ordered via a traffic center, where pilot operators ensure that the assignments are planned as efficiently as possible based on customer needs and the availability of pilots on duty.

Job Responsibilities
As a pilot operator, you will work with receiving pilot orders and distributing pilot assignments, recording service times, vessel arrival and departure times, as well as handling ongoing administrative tasks related to the pilotage process. At times, the work pace is high, and you are expected to manage multiple events simultaneously. Sometimes conditions change at short notice, and you must quickly revise your planning.

The work is performed at irregular hours both during the day and at night, and a valid medical certificate for suitability for night work is required before the start of employment. Pilot planning is currently conducted from Värtaterminalen in Stockholm, with an area of responsibility from Oxelösund to Kalix.

Who are you?
We are looking for someone with at least a three-year high school diploma and a valid SRC radio certificate. You must have a B driver's license. It is important that you can express yourself well in both spoken and written Swedish and English, as well as having good computer skills and easily managing various IT systems. It is an advantage if you have education in maritime studies and/or experience in the maritime field. A degree in Ship Command Class VIII is an advantage. Education in logistics is also an advantage. It is also beneficial if you have experience in service work of any kind, preferably within logistics, and if you have previous experience as a pilot operator.

You are communicative and passionate about providing excellent service to our customers. Since you will be responsible for operations together with a team of several pilot operators, teamwork, solution focus, and a strong sense of responsibility are very important qualities.

The Swedish Maritime Administration may apply a six-month probationary period.
The position may involve military placement at the Swedish Maritime Administration.

The position may require Swedish citizenship. Security clearance with background checks may be conducted before an offer of employment.
