Job Advertisement: Hospital Physicist in Nuclear Medicine
Are you a hospital physicist with experience in nuclear medicine? Are you a communicative person who enjoys collaborating with various professional groups? Join us and contribute your expertise to create a radiation-safe society!
We offer you a developing job where you will work both independently and together with your colleagues on issues and decision-making related to licensing. To be successful in this role, you should enjoy collaboration, have your own drive, and be focused on development.
You will belong to the Radiation Protection Licensing unit in the Licensing Department. The unit is responsible for licensing and exemptions regarding radiation protection as well as mandatory reporting activities and approvals. The unit also manages the systems and registers required for the registration of radiation sources, diagnostic reference levels, and personnel doses.
You will work with tasks and cases related to licensing and licensing issues. You will also work on the approval of radiation protection expert functions or personal dosimetry services. You are expected to be active and contribute to the development of our e-services and other systems, such as DosReg and the National Dose Register, and participate in our ongoing quality and improvement work.
Your tasks are primarily directed towards operators in healthcare and dental care but may eventually expand to other areas. You will have many contacts with the operators who contact the authority regarding licenses, exemptions, or have other questions related to the unit's tasks. As part of your work, you will also contribute your experience and expertise in other areas of the authority, such as standardization.
You plan your own workday and drive your cases both independently and together with your colleagues. You and your colleagues both give and receive support from each other. You have the opportunity to allocate part of your working hours remotely.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who has:
- a degree in hospital physics
- at least three years of relevant work experience, preferably in nuclear medicine, but experience in radiology or radiation therapy can also be relevant
- good ability to express yourself both verbally and in writing, in Swedish and English.
Personal Attributes
To succeed in this role, you need to be good at communicating and collaborating with various professional groups. It is also important that you have a high level of integrity. You need to be quality-conscious and have a good ability to plan and structure your work, both in the short and long term. Since you will be handling several parallel cases or tasks, you need to be flexible and proactive. We appreciate if you approach different situations and operations with curiosity and a results-oriented mindset.
We expect you to have a high level of safety awareness and that you can work according to both Our Values - Swedish Radiation Safety Authority (https://www.stralsakerhetsmyndigheten.se) and the Government Values (https://www.forvaltningskultur.se).

Some of our tasks are classified, which means that a security review with a register check according to the Security Protection Act (2018:585) may be conducted before a decision on employment. For some of our classified tasks, Swedish citizenship is also required.
