Job Responsibilities

In the role of building permit officer and building inspector, you will primarily work with the assessment of cases related to building permits, start approvals, and completion approvals under the Planning and Building Act, as well as exemptions from the shore protection regulations according to the Environmental Code on behalf of the building committee.

The work consists of exciting and sometimes complex legal and construction technical issues, as well as many social contacts with property owners, entrepreneurs, various activities within the municipality, and other authorities. You will make a number of decisions by delegation and prepare and present larger cases for decision in the building committee. An important task is to provide information and advice to the public.

With us, you will have a varied job where you often plan and manage your work yourself. You will have close cooperation with your colleagues and other dedicated employees within the municipality.

The work varies between being in the office and out on site visits, interpreting laws and planning regulations, as well as documenting and writing various decisions made by delegation or presented in the building committee. You will actively participate in the work of improving and developing processes, routines, and working methods in the organization.

The position requires presence at the workplace, but there may be an opportunity to agree to work remotely part of the week.

Your Profile

We are looking for someone who is an experienced building permit officer or building inspector. You should at least be an educated officer via KYH or equivalent and preferably have experience working in a politically governed organization. As a person, you express yourself easily both verbally and in writing and are equally interested in working with people as with construction issues. Good knowledge of the Planning and Building Act is an advantage.
