About Södertälje Parish and the Church of Sweden

Södertälje Parish is part of the Church of Sweden and consists of the parishes of Södertälje, Östertälje, and Enhörna, as well as cemetery management and an office.

Together, we work to be a present church in people's everyday lives – in joy and sorrow, in faith and doubt. Our mission is to meet people with care, respect, and commitment, and to contribute to a sustainable society where both people and the environment can thrive. Södertälje Parish is a wonderful and development-oriented community, and we celebrate services in the following church rooms: S:ta Ragnhild, Lina, Hovsjö, Tveta, and Pershagen Chapel. As a Church Custodian, you will serve in all our churches.

About the Position

Would you like to be part of our team? Then you should apply for the position of Church Custodian with us. The role is very varied, focusing on providing service within the parish, working to ensure that people feel included, and you will meet people in joy and sorrow. Service will take place throughout the parish. We are looking for someone who has good collaborative skills, is relationship-building and creative, and is driven in their work. You are confident in yourself, solution-focused, and able to be unpretentious and flexible. You also have a sense of creating a pleasant and welcoming environment. You will take good care of our visitors in our churches in a nice and dignified manner.

Main Responsibilities:

• Serve at services, church ceremonies, concerts, school graduations, and open church
• Take care of our churches, including working with premises and inventory maintenance
• Prepare simple meals and refreshments as needed
• Welcome visitors to our churches
• Collaborate with colleagues in the parish

Qualifications

• Ability to express yourself in Swedish, both spoken and written
• Good digital literacy and capable of handling administrative tasks
• Driver's license (B) and a car
• Membership in the Church of Sweden and shares its values

Desirable

• Experience participating in services, masses, and church ceremonies.
• Experience handling simple sound systems
• Speaks other languages

• The work involves regular evening and weekend duties
• A background check may be required
• The position is a temporary contract until 2027-05-19.
• Start date April 1, 2026, or by agreement.
