The Västernorrland Museum has a mission to preserve, develop, and make accessible the region's cultural heritage and cultural environments. The museum's activities are extensive and include a broad museum experience delivered through digital channels and in the museum's physical environments, collection management, and cultural heritage care. The museum building and Murberget Open-Air Museum are located in Härnösand.
We are looking for a museum host (50% position) for the museum's shop, reception, conference, and event activities. The responsibilities of this role also include hosting and external collaboration. Additionally, the operation is responsible for certain internal administration. During the summer season, the role includes the operation of the Handelsboden at the Murberget Open-Air Museum.
Many initiatives occur in collaboration between the museum's various operational areas.
The position is placed within the operational area of Hosting and Communication in the department of Shared Functions. The immediate workgroup consists of two additional museum hosts.
Job Responsibilities
As a museum host, you are the museum's face to the public and have a central role in interacting with the museum's visitors. Your responsibilities include welcoming, guiding, and informing about the museum's activities and offerings.
The position involves working with the museum's opening hours as well as tasks in the museum shop, such as purchasing, sales, and product display. During the summer season, planning and staffing of the Handelsboden is also included. The role involves managing venue rentals and conference bookings, as well as participating in the planning and execution of various events.
The work also includes contributing to the museum's communication and visibility, including the museum shop's presence on social media.
Furthermore, ongoing internal administration such as email and mail handling, as well as record-keeping, is part of the role. The role actively contributes to the comfort, visual design, and development of the museum's public environments and communication areas, as well as to the museum as a vibrant meeting place.

You easily establish contact with people, value good hosting, and enjoy a role that also includes sales.
You are confident in your professional role, work independently, and have good collaborative skills. You take responsibility for your tasks and actively contribute to the development and overall success of the operation.
You are meticulous, structured, and have good organizational skills. The role requires good planning ability, the ability to prioritize, and to work methodically according to established guidelines.
Qualifications
You have:
· a high school diploma
· at least one year of professional experience in retail, tourism, events, conferences, or other relevant experience for the position
· digital literacy and a good ability to use the Office suite, web, and social media
· good administrative skills and experience
· an interest in cultural heritage, crafts, and museum activities
· good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written
Meritorious
It is an advantage if you have:
· post-secondary education in retail, tourism, cultural heritage, or other relevant education for the position
Other Information
Employment type: Permanent position 50%, we apply a 6-month probationary period. Weekend and evening work is included.
