The position is located in the Community Building Administration, which deals with municipality-wide issues such as strategic and physical planning, regulatory authority in environmental and construction matters, and regional development. Here, there is also the overall responsibility for the municipality's technical supply in waste management, water and sewage, streets, roads, and parks. The administration works on behalf of the municipal executive board and the Community Building Committee.

The Community Building Administration of Gnesta municipality consists of five units: Waste Management, Streets/Parks, Building and Environment, Planning, and the Water and Sewage unit. As the Head of Water and Sewage, you belong to the Water and Sewage unit organizationally, but the collaboration extends across the entire administration, providing a dynamic and varied workday.

Job Responsibilities

As the Head of Water and Sewage in Gnesta municipality, you are responsible for the management, development, and operation of the municipality's water and sewage operations. The role entails overall responsibility for both strategic and operational issues within water and sewage, with a focus on:

  • Optimizing the operational organization to ensure an efficient and robust daily operation.
  • Developing long-term investment and reinvestment plans to meet both current needs and future demands for capacity and quality.
  • Ensuring compliance with LAV (the Act on Public Water Services) and other relevant laws and regulations.
  • Being a reliable and knowledgeable actor in the political context, with the ability to communicate complex issues clearly and facilitate decision-making.
  • Participating in and contributing to overarching community building issues in collaboration with other units and external actors.

You have personnel, budget, and result responsibility for the Water and Sewage unit and report to the head of Community Building. You lead an engaged team of currently 12 employees with high competence and a strong drive to develop the operations.

Qualifications

We see that you who apply:

  • Have relevant technical university education or equivalent experience in water and sewage, community building, or a similar field deemed relevant by the employer
  • Have several years of leadership experience, preferably within municipal water and sewage operations
  • Have experience leading and driving development work within operational and strategic planning issues
  • Have experience working in a politically governed organization
  • Have a good understanding of LAV and other applicable laws and regulations.
  • Master the Swedish language in speech and writing
  • Have a B driver's license

Furthermore, it is meritorious if you:

  • Are accustomed to working with strategic planning, investment projects, and change management
  • Have experience with public procurement procedures
  • Are used to giving presentations to larger groups
