Environmental Protection Inspector

The Åland Environment and Health Protection Agency (ÅMHM) is announcing a permanent position as an Environmental Protection Inspector. We are looking for someone who wants to work in a very exciting and varied environment with inspiring colleagues!

The vacant position involves tasks related to environmental assessment and supervision and can be tailored to your competencies and the agency's needs. The work includes case preparation and inspections with associated documentation, advice, collaboration with other authorities, and knowledge dissemination.

As an inspector, you will often be responsible for a specific area with your own objects, but since the team is small and the workload can be uneven at times, you should be prepared to handle cases from other areas as needed. The ability to collaborate and communicate within your own environmental section, with the underlying assessment and supervision groups, is therefore of utmost importance. The agency's lawyers assist inspectors in case management. You are also expected to contribute to the agency's overall development, and thus other cross-agency tasks may also become relevant.

You will manage your cases according to the Administrative Procedure Act and register them in our case management system EDP Vision. Good computer skills are a prerequisite for this work. In our field, we handle both Ålandic legislation as well as national and EU legislation, so you are expected to be able to understand legal texts.

We are looking for someone who enjoys structuring their work independently and appreciates a varied work pace and a diverse workday. You are a person who can work efficiently and independently, but you are also expected to contribute at the group level. You are meticulous, determined, well-organized, flexible, social, and loyal. You can make objective and factual assessments and set clear demands. The work requires integrity, teamwork skills, and good judgment. You are responsible and enjoy communicating and meeting people.

Relevant experience in environmental protection, knowledge of relevant legislation for the position, as well as experience in administrative work and preferably authority exercise are advantageous. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability, and we look forward to hearing more about you in a potential interview. Don't hesitate to apply for the position and become part of our wonderful team!
