The City Planning Office is one of eight administrations within Sundsvall Municipality, where we together create conditions for attractive and growing living environments with a focus on the future and a glance in the rearview mirror.

The administration plays an important role in increasing the municipality's development and attractiveness. The Street and Park Department's park section is a vital part of this. Through the maintenance and management of Sundsvall Municipality's parks and nature areas, playgrounds, you contribute to creating good living environments for both people and nature. The section is also responsible for the development of green and recreational environments in the municipality.

We have 14 permanent employees in the section, and during the summer season, the workforce grows with seasonal employees and summer workers in addition to permanent staff.

Your Contribution as a Park Worker

In this role, you will work to create and maintain pleasant, safe, and well-kept outdoor environments. The tasks are varied and may include:

• Weeding and maintenance of plantings
• Hedge trimming and pruning
• Cleaning and sanitation work
• Planting trees, shrubs, and summer flowers
• Maintenance of fountains and park equipment
• Watering and care of summer flowers
• Mowing with hand mowers, grass clearing, and mowing with larger riding mowers and remote-controlled mowers
• Other park-related tasks

During the summer, you will also have the opportunity to mentor seasonal employees and summer workers – a responsibility appreciated by many as it creates both variation and a sense of contributing to shared learning.

Your Skills and Experience

To thrive and succeed in this role, we see that you have a solid foundation in the green sector and feel comfortable with practical outdoor work. You contribute with your professional knowledge, attention to detail, and sense of responsibility. Below are the requirements and qualifications that are important for the position.

• Relevant education in the green sector (gardening, parks, land construction, forestry) or equivalent competence through work experience
• Experience working in green environments such as gardening, parks, land construction, or forestry
• Experience in pruning and tree planting
• Experience in the maintenance and care of planting areas
• Swedish language skills in speech and writing
• Good computer skills, including Office, and a quick learner of new systems
• Driving license B

In addition to the basic requirements, it is a plus if you have experience or training that enhances your ability to contribute in the role and broaden the team's competence.

• Chainsaw and brush cutter license
• Tractor license
• Driving license E
• TCYK certification
• Operational technician or carpenter

As a park worker, you need to be self-sufficient and confident in taking responsibility for your tasks, while also having good teamwork skills and contributing to a positive work environment. The work varies with the seasons, making flexibility important. You will meet residents and colleagues in a service-oriented and professional manner, using your creativity to find solutions and contribute to well-kept and welcoming outdoor environments.
