About the department

The Orthopedics department at Sahlgrenska consists of a 7-day care ward, day care, and an Orthopedic outpatient clinic open Monday to Friday.

The patients in the department are primarily adults undergoing planned orthopedic spinal and tumor surgery, but we also care for children and conduct emergency operations, which means there is a great variety in tasks.

With us, you will have a developing, fun, and independent job as a nurse! You will work with pre- and post-operative care in a multidisciplinary team. Patient-centered care is varied with administrative tasks in close collaboration with nursing assistants, physiotherapists, and doctors.

About you

You are a licensed nurse. Previous work experience as a nurse, specialist training in surgery, orthopedics, or pediatrics, and mentorship training are advantageous for the position.

We believe you are confident in yourself and enjoy being part of a team where joy at work, good collaboration, and care for each other are important. You appreciate clear routines but also know when to ask or seek advice. Sometimes unplanned situations arise, and then you can adapt, focus on the right things, and reprioritize your work. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

If you are a newly graduated nurse, you will be part of the Clinical Foundation Year, which is our introduction program. The Clinical Foundation Year is mandatory and lasts for the first year of your employment with us. It includes lectures, nursing supervision, and practical training of your profession at the Simulation Center. In addition, it also includes shifts in at least two different departments to broaden your competence.

In the event of recruitment of nurses/doctors with foreign licenses/specialist certificates, the relevant position will be preceded by a process to meet the requirements for Swedish licenses/specialist certificates.
