Research Assistant at the Department of Political Science

Job Responsibilities
The Department of Political Science is now announcing a position as a research assistant with the task of collecting data for a research project at the department studying the regulation of social media platforms by democratic states.
The successful candidate will be involved in building a global database on the regulation of social media within the framework of the research project Shaping the Online Public Sphere (https://www.su.se/english/research/research-projects/shaping-the-online-public-sphere-how-and-why-do-democracies-regulate-social-media-platforms). The job responsibilities include data collection and coding of legislation in the database. This involves identifying and understanding legislation targeting social media platforms and entering this information into the project's dataset.
The project offers good opportunities for skill development in data collection and data processing as well as the use of Excel.
Qualifications
You should have a master's degree (MA) in political science or a related social science field. Previous experience as a research assistant is not a requirement, but you should be meticulous and able to work independently. Good knowledge of English is required (reading and writing). Experience working with Excel is an advantage.
Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
About the Position
The position is part-time at 50% and is temporary for seven months. The workplace and working hours are flexible, but some tasks require presence at the department.
Stockholm University applies individual salary setting. Start date is March 1 or by agreement.
