Waste Engineer with a Focus on Environmental Issues

The Technical Administration is now seeking a waste engineer with a focus on environmental issues.

The Technical Administration consists of nearly 200 employees and ensures that the municipality's traffic environment is safe and accessible, and that children, youth, and the elderly receive nutritious and good food in the municipality's school activities and special accommodations. We are responsible for ensuring that our residents have access to clean and fresh water from the tap. In addition, we manage the collection of household waste and operate our waste facility. This also includes cleaning services for our administrative premises, contract and rental management, as well as service, supervision, and preventive maintenance.

The administration consists of the following departments: public environment, water and waste, service, and a staff unit. Our organization provides us with good conditions to meet future needs and challenges regarding a balanced economy and satisfied residents and businesses.

The unit for planning water and waste, where we are now seeking a waste engineer, supports the operational units and management so that the department can fulfill its mission and achieve its goals. This includes, among other things, driving and participating in projects, conducting investigations, improving the department's processes, handling permit matters, conducting environmental monitoring, legal monitoring, providing customer service, and planning and implementing information campaigns, etc. Furthermore, the unit will serve as a contact point for authorities, other parts of the administration and municipality, customers, and other stakeholders.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Waste Engineer, you are a specialist in your field and provide support to the Department. You assist the operational organizations in their work to develop the organization. You contribute to the creation and development of routines and other governing documents, such as the technical committee's waste management guidelines, recycling plans, and waste management regulations.

Develop and follow up on self-monitoring programs with associated sampling programs. Evaluation of water sampling analyses and other statistics, compiling results and reporting. Conduct environmental reporting.

Lead investigations and permit applications within the department.

Act as the department's contact with authorities. Manage and process authority matters and permit issues.

Conduct environmental monitoring within the waste and environmental sectors regarding both technology and legislation. Participate in regional cooperation and networking.

Provide additional support in environmental and waste issues primarily within the administration.

QUALIFICATIONS

A post-secondary education with an environmental focus or other relevant education in natural sciences, environmental law, or equivalent that the employer assesses as equivalent is required for the position.

You should have knowledge of environmental science and environmental legislation, as well as its application regarding environmentally hazardous activities and supervision.

Driver's license class B.

Good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish and English.
