Waste Strategist at Ronneby Miljöteknik

Do you want to help shape the future of Ronneby – a sustainable community where people, businesses, and the environment thrive? Are you an engaged and innovative Waste Strategist with a passion for eco-friendly waste management and who enjoys a dynamic role with varied tasks where no day is the same?

If values such as customer focus, respect, joy at work, responsibility, and ethics are as important to you as they are to us at Ronneby Miljöteknik, then this is the job for you!

About us

The Waste Management Department consists of 24 dedicated employees who work together for sustainable and efficient waste management. We are responsible for the collection of municipal waste via four-compartment containers, sludge emptying, container emptying, and ensuring that daily life works for our residents and businesses. The waste management team operates and develops the municipality's recycling centers and recycling stations as well as the Angelskogs waste facility.

About the position

As a Waste Strategist, you will be an important part of our strategic environmental and sustainability work. You will work closely with operations, our partners, and internal functions to drive development towards more efficient, circular, and sustainable waste management. The role involves significant personal responsibility, but also close collaboration with colleagues to turn ideas into reality. The role gives you the opportunity to contribute new perspectives, challenge existing practices, and test innovative solutions.

Your main areas:

  • Develop, follow up, and further develop the company's long-term waste strategies
  • Initiate, lead, and drive projects within recycling, reuse, and reduced waste generation
  • Be an advisor and sounding board for management and employees on issues related to waste and circular management.
  • Collaborate with municipalities, businesses, industry actors, and authorities
  • Keep up with developments in legislation, technology, and trends related to waste and sustainability
  • Contribute to a culture characterized by innovation, curiosity, and continuous learning

About you

The role requires an analytical, engaged, and confident strategist with the ability to work both strategically and be present in daily operations. You find it easy to build relationships and engage in dialogue with many different stakeholders from management to external partners. With a holistic perspective, curiosity, and the ability to translate insights into practical solutions, you drive development work that makes a difference. You thrive in an open, collaborative culture and appreciate the opportunity to contribute to a more sustainable society.

Requirements:

  • Relevant university education in environmental science, engineering, urban planning, sustainable development, or equivalent experience deemed relevant by the employer.
  • Experience in strategic work, preferably within waste management or the environmental field
  • Ability to initiate, drive, and follow up on development and improvement work
  • Accustomed to collaborating closely with management, key functions, and external actors
  • Commitment to sustainability issues and circular approaches

Meritorious

  • Experience in project management
  • Knowledge of current legislation in waste and environment
  • Familiarity with working in complex collaborative environments
  • Experience in innovation work or improvement culture

The position is suitable for you who enjoy working closely with operations, contributing to long-term development while managing complex issues with both strategic depth and operational presence. Communicating in speech and writing in Swedish is a requirement, as is a B driver's license. We will place great emphasis on your personal qualities, so that both you and we can enjoy working together. We value diversity and welcome applications from all qualified candidates.
