The Jämtland police area is one of the police areas in the Northern police region. The geographical area includes eight municipalities. The Jämtland police area is divided into two local police areas: Östersund and Jämtland/Härjedalen. At the police area level, there is an investigation section and a police area office.
We are now looking for hourly employed detention guards for the locations Östersund, Bräcke, Sveg, Funäsdalen, Åre, and Strömsund.
As an hourly employee with us, you will have a so-called intermittent employment. This means that you are employed for each individual work shift and receive financial compensation per hour. The number of hours worked varies per person and over time.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Your main task will be to work in a detention environment. In the role of detention guard, you will receive and manage individuals who are deprived of their liberty, and you will be their closest contact during their time in the detention facility. Many are deprived of liberty for the purpose of investigating crimes, but it can also involve shorter detentions due to, for example, the law on the apprehension of intoxicated persons (LOB).
The pace of work varies and depends on how many are detained in the facility. It can be physically demanding and requires you to be in good health.
Work in other locations within the county may occur.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone who has:
- Work experience that the employer deems relevant for the position or is a police student
- Good knowledge of Swedish in both spoken and written form
- Driver's license B
It is advantageous if you also are/have:
- Current work experience that includes personal meetings deemed relevant by the employer
- Experience working with and meeting people in vulnerable environments deemed relevant by the employer
- Current work experience of having worked with detained individuals such as correctional services, detention guard, HVB/SIS homes, security guard, or other experience deemed relevant by the employer
- Experience working within the police, another authority, or public administration deemed relevant by the employer
- Knowledge/skill regarding police data systems such as RES, lost property, and Durtvå
- Police students
- Approved grades in the self-defense course or have a similar and current education that we consider relevant for the position
Personal qualities
As an employee, you are the police's face to the public and are expected to work with commitment, availability, and efficiency. You have an interest in working with people and have the ability to understand other people's perspectives and situations without taking over their feelings. In stressful situations, you can act calmly, controlled, and professionally. You apply a high level of safety awareness, which means you are reliable in situations where physical violence may arise. The work also requires you to work well with others. You have a flexible approach and enjoy helping and supporting others.
We will place great emphasis on personal qualities.

Work location: Östersund, Bräcke, Sveg, Funäsdalen, Åre, and Strömsund. Please indicate in your application which of the locations you are interested in.
Working hours: 24/7 operations (day, evening, weekend, and night)

The employment will begin with mandatory training that may take place in another location outside the region.
