Project Manager at Örebro Library

Do you want to lead a meaningful project that puts young voices and reading at the center? Apply for the position of project manager at Örebro Library!

About the Position

Here you have the opportunity to help start a project aimed at promoting reading among young people. Together with the unit manager, you will recruit 5-6 young ambassadors (library developers) who will work approximately 6–8 hours per week to increase young people's interest in reading and engagement. After the recruitment process, you will also conduct training to prepare the young people for their roles and tasks. As a project manager, you will play a central role in leading and coordinating activities and working closely with the young library developers, mentors, and partners to achieve the project's goals. It will be your responsibility to create structure, support, and guidance throughout the project's lifecycle from preparation and recruitment to implementation and evaluation.

Examples of Responsibilities:

  • lead training and introduction on reading promotion strategies, communication, and project management to strengthen the young people's skills and confidence
  • coordinate and plan reading promotion activities together with young library developers and other project members such as book clubs, creative writing courses, author talks, and poetry readings in collaboration with other actors, such as the Cultural School
  • create an activity calendar and coordinate various collaborative activities with local actors to reach the target group and create relevant reading promotion activities for young people
  • use a child rights perspective as a basis for understanding and meeting young people's needs and creating an inclusive and safe environment where young voices can be heard and influence
  • collect feedback, evaluate activities, and adapt efforts to create sustainable solutions and prepare for future recruitments and activities

Qualifications

To fit the role of project manager, you need to have the ability to take initiative, establish credibility, motivate, and create direction for the project. You create collaborations, promote others' ideas, and relate to others in an open and accepting manner. You need to communicate effectively by both listening and conveying messages, as well as having the ability to lead meetings and collaborations. The role also requires good organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple activities simultaneously. We place great importance on personal suitability.

Requirements:

  • academic degree of 180 credits in a relevant field, such as culture, education, or youth, or another academic degree that the employer assesses as equivalent
  • experience in project management
  • at least 1 year of experience working with young people
  • knowledge of reading promotion work
  • knowledge of children's rights

Meritorious:

  • knowledge of various reading promotion methods and tools
  • experience of reading promotion efforts in collaboration with different actors
  • experience working from a child rights perspective and inclusive strategies
  • experience in evaluation work and analysis of projects and activities
  • experience working with multilingual communication based on diversity and inclusion
  • knowledge of languages other than Swedish

Scope and Start Date

Employment type: Project employment

Employment rate: 50%

Start date: immediately according to agreement - until December 31

The position is a project employment, initially for one year but with an expected project period of three years and the possibility of extension depending on results, needs, and funding.
