Swedish Prison and Probation Service is Growing – We Are Expanding!

We are now looking for more employees. Our main goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will be safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, remand facilities, and client transports.

The remand facility in Karlskrona, which is a smaller facility, is located in central Karlskrona and housed in the police building. As an employee of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, you have several benefits, such as: more vacation days (28-35), wellness grants, reimbursement for medications (high-cost), and subsidized healthcare visits.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a correctional officer, you can contribute to a safer society. You work in teams with other professional groups and have the opportunity to help people break the vicious cycle. It is important that you share the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's fundamental values of a humane view of humanity. Working in a remand facility means focusing on care and security and is a job with clear routines. You will also work with surveillance and search tasks and staff the surveillance center. You need to have a strong interest in security work as the work in the remand facility is based on a preventive dynamic security mindset.

QUALIFICATIONS

Your personal qualities are important. As a correctional officer, you need to be secure, stable, have good self-awareness, sound judgment, and integrity. Together with your colleagues, you will drive the operations, so you need to have good teamwork skills and be clear in your communication. You should be able to act physically when required.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Work experience, including seasonal work, part-time employment, or self-employment. Internships and volunteer work are not considered equivalent to employment.
  • Complete high school education or other training combined with work experience that the employer deems relevant.
  • Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing.
  • Good computer skills.
  • A valid driver's license (B).

It is an advantage if you have:

  • Work experience from corrections, security work, social care, psychiatry, or healthcare.
  • Knowledge in relevant areas, such as behavioral science, criminology, psychiatry, law, and conflict management.
  • Relevant language skills.
