Your tasks

We are now looking for two cooks for Ekholm School. The work as a cook involves all tasks that occur in a kitchen. You will prepare and serve breakfast, snacks, and lunch, as well as special diets in accordance with applicable agreements. You are responsible for ordering food and other products from our contracted suppliers. Your responsibilities also include ensuring that the right product is packed at the right time and delivered to the right customer. You will work with self-control and post-work tasks such as cleaning and dishwashing. You will also meet our guests during serving hours.

In one of the cook positions, you will act as a deputy to the restaurant manager as needed. This means that you temporarily support the restaurant manager in the kitchen with tasks such as distributing work in the kitchen and that you have operational and quality responsibility at the workplace.

Your workplace

Food & Restaurant is responsible for cooking for Linköping's primary and secondary schools. In our 70 kitchens, 250 employees prepare about 26,000 portions of food daily, served in our own school restaurant or delivered to preschools and elderly care. Our mission is to offer our customers an affordable meal that is well-prepared and nutritious. We are committed to ensuring that our operations are characterized by good quality and professionalism. We base our goals and quality standards on preparing food according to the season and as much as possible from scratch and close to the guest to promote health and consider the environment and climate.

Ekholm School is a secondary school in the southern parts of Linköping. The school has about 400 students and also includes a resource school. The school also shares a building with an adapted primary school for secondary school students.

At Ekholm School, about 1,600 portions are prepared, of which about 400 are served in the school's own dining hall. The remaining portions are sent out to other schools and preschools, involving 11 deliveries. The kitchen at Ekholm School also produces freeze-dried food for the municipality's emergency stock.

The work as a cook is scheduled during the day from Monday to Friday.

You who are applying

We are looking for someone who has a high school education in restaurant and food, large-scale cooking training, or other education that the employer assesses to be equivalent. Alternatively, equivalent work experience as assessed by the employer. It is an advantage if you have several years of work experience in cooking. In the role of deputy to the restaurant manager, it is advantageous if you have previously worked as a cook in a deputy role.

Furthermore, it is a requirement that you have knowledge regarding special diets and it is advantageous if you have several years of work experience in this area. It is also advantageous if you have experience working with school meals and ordering goods digitally. The work requires good knowledge of the Swedish language in speech and writing to ensure the quality of the food, the health of the guests, and your own safety.

As a person, you are secure, stable, and self-aware. You have the ability to distinguish between the personal and professional and conduct yourself in a manner that is appropriate to the situation. Since the work involves working against deadlines, we are looking for someone who is calm, stable, and controlled in stressful and pressurized situations. Furthermore, you have a positive attitude and the ability to invest energy and commitment in your work. You have a realistic belief in your own abilities and are aware of your strengths and weaknesses, showing courage in difficult situations, and quickly addressing conflicts or opposition.
