Do you want to work as a janitor in a school? The MLV (meals, cleaning, and janitorial services) within the School Administration is responsible for meal services as well as cleaning and janitorial services in our schools.

For each unit, there is a manager for meals and a manager for cleaning and janitorial services. In the city center area, janitors work to deliver top-class service.

Job Responsibilities

We are now looking for two janitors who want to contribute the best service, quality, and development for our elementary schools in the city center area of Gothenburg. As a janitor with us, you have a broad role with varying tasks. This can include everything from assembly work, changing light sources, repairs, monthly and quarterly tests of fire alarms, work with tournaments, and recycling management. The job may involve heavy lifting. You work with service and enjoy helping others. It is important for you to have a well-functioning collaboration with schools and colleagues. The work involves responsibility for tasks according to ongoing maintenance routines as well as for fault reports from schools.

It is important that you enjoy the responsibility of being a good adult role model in the school. Good communication and collaboration with both students and other adults in the school environment are prerequisites. The City of Gothenburg works with self-service for absence reporting. We use tools from Office365 in our work, primarily email through Outlook, but also Teams, OneNote, SharePoint, Excel, and Word.

Working hours are during the day according to a schedule. On-call and standby may occur in connection with tournaments, elections, and other events.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a high school education and experience in janitorial work, property management, craft professions, or similar. Since we serve several schools, a driver's license for a passenger car (B) and driving experience are required. The position also involves some administrative work, so good computer skills are required, as well as the ability to express yourself fluently in Swedish, both spoken and written.

It is advantageous if you have craft training, facility management training, or education in property management. It is also advantageous if you have knowledge of the tools included in Office365.

As a person, you are independent and act on your own based on what the situation requires without needing support from others. You are service-oriented and have the interest, willingness, and ability to help others, and you strive to present solutions. The role also requires you to have the ability to work together with others to perform tasks and achieve goals. You have a communicative ability and can express yourself clearly and effectively. You are flexible and can easily adapt to both people and situations.
