Description

Do you want to contribute to strengthening biodiversity in Gothenburg and make knowledge accessible to the city's residents?

We are now looking for an advisor with a commitment to the values of nature and the ability to translate ecological knowledge into practical guidance.

Gothenburg faces significant challenges but also great opportunities when it comes to enhancing biodiversity in the city. To meet future needs, the city environment committee has tasked us with creating an advisory function that makes it easier for residents, associations, and external actors to understand how they can contribute to developing and caring for natural values in their local environment.

We are now seeking an advisor who wants to help build this function. You will play a vital role in spreading knowledge, explaining ecological connections, and providing support to those who want to make a difference in their gardens, residential areas, and businesses. The role is new in the organization and offers great opportunities to develop both methods and content.

Responsibilities

As a biodiversity advisor, you will provide guidance to individuals, associations, and other actors seeking support on issues related to natural values, species, habitats, and measures that can promote biodiversity. You will receive and respond to inquiries, develop or adapt knowledge materials, and participate in information efforts and dialogues. The work also involves following relevant research and development in the field and collaborating with colleagues and other administrations to ensure that the advice is current, accurate, and accessible.

Your role includes formulating clear and pedagogical responses, both orally and in writing, and being able to explain complex ecological contexts in a way that enhances understanding among people with varying levels of prior knowledge. You will also participate in meetings, activities, and events where advice or knowledge dissemination about biodiversity is requested.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a university degree in ecology, biology, environmental science, or a related field. You have good knowledge of biodiversity, species, habitats, and ecological connections and are comfortable navigating both local and overarching conservation issues.

You possess strong communication skills and can explain complex information clearly and understandably. It is important that you enjoy interacting with people, can tailor your advice to their circumstances, and have a professional and friendly demeanor. Experience in advising, knowledge dissemination, or educational work is an advantage.

You need to be able to work independently, in a structured manner, and with a good ability to articulate yourself both verbally and in writing. You enjoy taking responsibility, keeping up with developments in your field, and contributing to building methods and practices in a startup environment.

Personal Attributes

We are looking for a person who is attentive, pedagogical, and engaged, with a genuine interest in enhancing knowledge about nature and ecological values in society. You thrive as a knowledge resource for others and possess patience, curiosity, and a willingness to meet people where they are. You find it easy to collaborate but are also comfortable working independently and developing new methods when needed.

Why Apply for This Position with Us?

You will have a unique opportunity to help build a new function that is crucial for the city's ecological sustainability. You will contribute to more residents gaining knowledge and tools to strengthen nature in their local environment, and you will be part of a department that works with long-term responsibility for the city's green and blue environments. Here, you will have both the freedom to develop the role and support from colleagues with broad expertise and strong commitment.

Conditions

With us, you will work in an administration focused on development, collaboration, and diversity. We offer flexible working hours (with exceptions in certain departments), wellness benefits, and cycling incentives - so you can combine an exciting job with a sustainable private life.

As an employer, we have a responsibility to ensure that you have the right to reside and work in Sweden. Therefore, during a physical interview, you will need to show a passport or national ID card. We will also check your driving license during the interview.

Selection and interviews are conducted on an ongoing basis, so do not wait to apply!
