The Community Building Administration is responsible for catering and cleaning, land development, urban planning and building permits, parks and green spaces, streets, water, and waste. Here, over 300 employees work together to make Ystad a great municipality to live, work, and thrive in.

The Waste Unit is responsible for collecting municipal waste and garden waste from households. We also work to increase recycling and create interest in sustainable consumption. Collection of grease, packaging from multi-family houses, and return paper is done by contractors, while other collections of food and residual waste as well as sludge are done in-house. In 2024, four-compartment collection will also be launched in the municipality. The Waste Unit currently consists of about seventeen people who work with everything from collection to strategic work and communication.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The job involves property-close waste collection within Ystad Municipality. As a driver in the Waste Unit, you will work throughout the municipality. Our vehicle fleet consists of two-compartment and four-compartment trucks, a refuse truck, and a service vehicle. Municipal waste is collected according to a set schedule at villas, multi-family houses, and businesses.

As a professional driver in the Waste Unit, you are responsible for creating a good customer experience and contributing to sustainable waste management. You contribute your knowledge to the workgroup through open dialogue and communication, which creates a positive and safe working environment. Currently, we are in a development phase, and it is therefore important to participate in the ongoing improvement work of the operation.

You will handle deviations and participate in the work to rectify them, manage the vehicle's digital equipment, and be responsible for the maintenance of your vehicle.

As a driver with us, you will have the opportunity to work outdoors in the fresh air and get plenty of exercise on the job. You will be part of a team with a lot of joy and laughter.

QUALIFICATIONS

Working as a waste driver involves a lot of physical activity, so it is important that you enjoy physical work outdoors. The role also includes ongoing safety work, vehicle maintenance, and documentation via digital tools, such as deviation reporting.

You who are applying have a high school education, a C driver's license, and a valid professional competence certificate (YKB). It is a requirement that you are also willing to drive a refuse truck; experience is an advantage. It is also advantageous if you have experience in the driving profession and previous waste management work as well as driving heavy vehicles. We expect you to have a good understanding of professional vehicles and always perform your work with good quality. Furthermore, the job requires that you are responsible, flexible, and have good teamwork skills. Good customer service is important to us, and we place great emphasis on your personal qualities.

The position requires basic computer skills and a good command of the Swedish language.
