Field of Operations: Medicine, Dermatology, and Rheumatology
We are Uppsala University Hospital – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. Something is always happening here – a new life is born, a grandmother is operated on, a colleague is celebrated as a hero. With us, you will experience both tough challenges and fantastic events, in a strong community with colleagues. See parts of our reality in our photo exhibition; akademiskafotoutstallning.se (http://akademiskafotoutstallning.se). Welcome with your application!
We strive to be a leading rheumatology section that creates the greatest possible value for our patients within outpatient, day care, and inpatient care. Here you will find an exciting and engaging job where you make a difference for patients of various ages and from different walks of life. The rheumatological specialty includes over 80 diagnoses with varying disease pictures, most of which are driven by inflammation.
Our Operations
We build our operations on collaboration, trust, and endurance. Our ward 100B1 has 7 beds. Here we care for patients in need of specialized inpatient care within the specialties of rheumatology, endocrinology/diabetes, and dermatology. Primarily, we meet patients with rheumatic conditions where the immune system incorrectly attacks the body's own tissue, resulting in a symptom picture that varies depending on which organ systems are affected. This can include impaired lung function, kidney failure, muscle weakness, or impact on the central nervous system, to name a few. We also care for endocrine and diabetes patients. Diseases that occur in this category include pituitary and adrenal gland-related diseases as well as hereditary metabolic conditions that disturb hormone production and/or metabolism in various ways. This includes newly diagnosed diabetes. The third specialty we are responsible for is dermatology. These patients may suffer from complex wounds or significant skin rashes, and here we provide NHV - national highly specialized care as one of five hospitals in Sweden. In all specialties, there are chronic diseases, which means that a certain percentage of patients return to the ward due to flare-ups, follow-ups, and/or treatments. This gives us the opportunity to closely monitor disease progress but also to establish a closer relationship with the patient.
Your Mission
We value competence and continuously develop our knowledge. We primarily work with investigation, diagnostics, and treatment for our patients. The starting point in nursing work is to see the whole patient in history, status, and clinical assessments. As a nurse, you also work a lot with medical technology. Many patients are treated with biological immunosuppressive infusions administered under careful supervision according to specific protocols.
We work to continuously improve the ward with a focus on patient safety and work environment, where you contribute your thoughts and ideas for improvement. We have scheduled training days where you have the opportunity to study and shadow in areas within your profession that benefit our operations.
If you are newly graduated, you will participate in KUÅ – clinical development year, for 20% of your working time. After working a few years, there are further education opportunities in areas such as rheumatology, rheumatological pharmacotherapy, diabetes care, motivational interviewing, and clinical wound care.
Your introduction is individually tailored. During the introduction, you will work with different supervisors, both to gain insight and be inspired by several ways of working, and also to naturally get to know your colleagues. You will have follow-up conversations with your immediate manager during and recurring after the introduction.
Your Qualifications
We meet people with commitment, respect, and personal interest. We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse and who is driven to contribute to care of the highest possible quality. Our patient group is recurring, and the workgroup is relatively small, which makes good collaboration between us central.
In addition to the basic nursing skills, we expect you to:
- Be an active employee who contributes improvement suggestions and presents your opinions.
- Always do your best to ensure that communication is clear, respectful, and relevant.
- Be aware of the variation in work intensity and be able to adapt to it.
- Work to create trustworthy relationships with your patients and their relatives.
- Treat patients, relatives, and colleagues with respect for the individual.
We Offer
We offer you as a licensed nurse a permanent position at 75-100%. An inpatient care supplement is received in addition to the base salary. Interviews and appointments occur continuously. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.
With us, you will receive benefits that make a difference, read about the benefits here (https://regionuppsala.se/jobba-hos-oss/bli-var-nya-kollega/formaner/).
