Our operations

At the Uppsala Care Department (NÄVA), we can offer a work environment where we thrive and have fun at work. We work closely together in a team that includes many professional categories. We have our own physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and a pharmacist who assists with preparations and management of medications in daily work. We are also proud to have several specialist doctors in general medicine, geriatrics, and internal medicine. The breadth of professional categories and competencies among us allows us to meet the patient's complex needs and give them the time they often require. As a result, we have very few readmissions and a high degree of satisfied patients and relatives.

The Uppsala Care Department belongs to the Near Care and Health administration, Region Uppsala, and is located in the scenic Ulleråker area in Uppsala. We primarily cater to elderly patients who need inpatient care but do not require the resources of a hospital for investigation. Some common reasons for admission to us are infections, heart failure, pain relief and mobilization, medication adjustments, uncomplicated fractures, and symptom-relieving blood transfusions. Patients come either via referral from primary care, direct admission from the Mobile Care Team, or from the emergency department at the Academic Hospital. The average length of stay is about 10 days. We have 30 care places.
