Our Operations
The Department of Geriatrics, Rehabilitation, and Pain Center provides care that spans from acute management to rehabilitation and discharge planning for patients over the age of 65. You will receive patients directly from the emergency department and by referral from other departments. You will care for individuals with many different health conditions. The geriatrics department in Uppsala consists of three inpatient wards with different focuses: medicine, orthopedics, and neurological care.
The foundation of the geriatric approach is teamwork based on person-centered care. The team consists of you as a nursing assistant and nurse, doctors, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and, if needed, pharmacists, social workers, dietitians, and speech therapists.
Your Mission
As a nursing assistant, you work closely with patients and are responsible for parts of their care. You observe, assess, perform, and evaluate care. In addition to close care, your tasks include taking venous samples, placing catheters, caring for feeding tubes, wound dressings, staple removals, monitoring vital parameters, EKGs, bladder scans, taking various cultures, and rehabilitation. In the department, we have two different nursing assistant roles with different focuses. One role is more focused on planning, maintaining, and evaluating the patient's care together with the team, while the other function is more operational.
We are happy to share more about the work during a potential interview.
Your Qualifications
We are looking for someone who is a trained nursing assistant (degree certificate must be attached to the application) or has relevant experience from working in an orthopedic geriatric ward. A requirement is to enjoy working with elderly people, and experience in an orthopedic geriatric ward is highly valued.
Your Competence
The variation in work means that you should be flexible, responsible, and able to adapt to acute situations, as well as be ready to step in where needed. Since the work is often physically demanding, it is required that you are in good physical condition. You enjoy working with elderly people and have a good and reflective approach. Great importance is placed on your ability to collaborate, as teamwork is central to providing safe patient care. You want to help others become their best! You learn new systems easily and work systematically with documentation and information management. You handle the Swedish language, both spoken and written, and can communicate effectively with patients, relatives, and colleagues, as well as document according to current routines.
- Ability to perform tasks delegated by different professionals in the care team.
- You have a structured approach to work, where you plan, prioritize, and follow up on tasks effectively, even in a fast-paced environment and under changing conditions.
We believe it is important that you are an engaged and positive colleague who contributes to a good work environment. Personal qualities are highly valued, and you find it rewarding to work with elderly people.
We Offer
We can offer you a temporary position scheduled for days, evenings, and weekends, with start date according to agreement. The degree of employment can be discussed. You will be offered an introduction before you start working. Employment is ongoing.
With us, you will receive benefits that make a difference; read about the benefits here (https://regionuppsala.se/jobba-hos-oss/bli-var-nya-kollega/formaner/).
