Our Operations

Thorax is the special clinic at Uppsala University Hospital for surgical treatment of diseases in the chest. Here, diseases of the heart, lungs, and major blood vessels are treated. The most common diagnoses are coronary artery disease, valve disease, aneurysms, and lung tumors. We also perform ECMO treatments for indications of respiratory failure and heart failure.

We have a close collaboration across the entire area of operations and a shared responsibility for the entire care chain, which allows us to plan, implement, and evaluate the entire patient flow. We work with short decision-making paths, where long-term thinking and quality are key principles.

Our operating department is a modern and high-tech unit with five operating rooms for conventional thoracic surgery and one intervention room for catheter-based interventions. We have our own sterile unit in close collaboration with the hospital's sterilization center.

Your Mission

You will work with all aspects of the sterile goods process, such as cleaning, disinfection, sterilization, and functional control of the department's instruments/instrument sets. You will also assist with the service of consumables and basic setups for the operating rooms.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is a trained sterilization technician, or alternatively a nursing assistant with experience in sterile technical work. Experience from operating activities is an advantage.

Your Competence

What stands out about you is that you have good collaboration skills, are flexible, and can work independently. You are computer literate, meticulous, and have the ability to organize work efficiently. You should have a medical technology interest as well as a high level of hygiene awareness and experience working with quality management systems, sterile storage operations, and T-Doc.

We Offer

A one-year temporary position with the possibility of extension. Interviews will be conducted continuously during the application period. A probationary period may be applied.
