Our Operations

At the Central Intensive Care Unit (CIVA), approximately 800–900 patients with severe failure of life-sustaining functions are cared for each year. The average length of stay is short, and most admissions occur acutely at all hours of the day, which means that the pace of work can shift quickly.

The most common diagnoses among patients are severe infections, trauma, cardiac arrest, and advanced postoperative care. Through collaboration among all the hospital's intensive care units, CIVA also cares for patients with major burns, acute diseases of the nervous system and thorax, patients requiring intensive care with highly contagious diseases, and children when needed.
