Summer Substitute for Junior Doctor – Affective Disorders

Our Operations

The Psychiatric Operations of Uppsala University Hospital is divided into four sections, where the Section for Affective Disorders is one of them. The section offers both inpatient care and several outpatient clinics and is responsible for specialized psychiatric care for adults in Uppsala County. Work is conducted in interdisciplinary teams around the patients.

In outpatient care, patients with bipolar disorder, depression, and severe personality and anxiety disorders are assessed and treated. The section also includes a gender identity clinic and an eating disorder unit for adults. In inpatient care, more severely or acutely ill patients are treated.

The medical team consists of senior physicians, specialist physicians, resident physicians, and junior doctors. The collaborative climate is very positive; discussions about patient cases and medical issues are welcomed. Your Mission

As a junior doctor in affective outpatient care, your tasks include patient consultations for assessment and diagnosis, medication follow-ups, prescription writing, and certificate writing. You collaborate systematically with colleagues and other professionals in the team and are offered regular supervision by specialist physicians, which is appreciated by many in the role. In the position as a junior doctor in affective inpatient care, you work closely with both specialist physicians and other staff on the ward, where the usual medical work includes patient conversations for assessment and treatment of inpatients, in addition to medication follow-ups, prescription writing, and certificate writing.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has completed at least the ninth semester of the medical program and has a genuine interest in psychiatry. Regarding personal abilities, we seek someone who is stable, structured, has good collaboration skills, and sound judgment. Previous experience in psychiatry is an advantage. We Offer

We offer fixed-term substitutes during the summer, with the possibility of extension. The working degree is full-time and the start date is according to agreement.
